Hey Everybody,
Well, the time is almost here, where I take the longest journey of my life to a land completely different than that of the Twin-Cities and the comfort of Minnesota. It will probably not hit me until I am somewhere over the Atlantic Ocean that I will be living in Africa for 4 months, but each day I have a new realization about what my life will be like the next week. I have been preparing for this departure for many months right now, and emotions are at an all-time high.
To say the least, it has been a hectic week. Much of that has been self-incurred. I have been packing for the past couple days in the hopes that I will not leave a necessity half-way across the globe at home, and I have had help of course from my parents. They have helped me every step of the way, and they deserve a special thanks for helping and allowing their oldest son to go to a completely unknown land.
I just finished watching Steven’s 9th grade A basketball game in which they beat Coon Rapids with ease. I realized that I will miss being able to watch his games and into baseball season as well. I will also miss Mike’s first year of baseball up at St. John’s which is a major bummer, but I will keep in contact with them and follow from a far… a long far.
The actual flight leaves Tuesday January 31st at 12:30 p.m. The stops will be first in D.C., then Senegal, then Johannesburg before my final destination of Port Elizabeth at 9:30 p.m. February 1st, a long flight by any standards. Last time I flew was about 10 years ago. I got sick during the flight, so wish me luck.
Cheers and thanks for reading!
Bobby
